So, I'm at work scrolling through some blogs to see what is out there and right when I was about to give up because 90% of the blogs are in another language (totally looked at all the pictures though) I came upon the coolest idea. To some, this will be lame, to people like me with a crazy imagination it's brilliant. Ok...it's called found object new york.....www.foundobjectnewyork.blogspot.com (plug). This guy (peter) takes pictures of random objects laying on the streets of New York. Not only is the photography fantastic, but it leads you to so many ideas of where the objects came from. What's the story?? There's a title and a picture...you make up the story. HUH?? Right?? Anybody feeling it??? Who's pocket did that penny fall out of? Did someone pick it up for luck and then drop it again...and how did it take that weird shape? Was someone locked out of their house because they lost their Hello Kitty key?
It got me thinking about how many things we pass up while casually strolling through our day. No matter how odd, how big or small these items are, at one point they meant something to someone. Of course you have the ciggy butts and trash, but what about the random shoe laying next to your car in the parking lot or the comb next to the curb while your taking a walk. My former neighbor had a friend Rusty. Rusty was a country boy who drank a lot, didn't really say much to anybody unless he needed to but the one thing that never changed was his love for combed hair. His combed hair, I don't think he cared about anyone else's hair. When he got in his car, when he got out of the car, if the wind slightly shifted to another direction that moved a strand of hair, he would reach into his shirt pocket behind his pack of Winston's pull out his comb and just as cool as the Fonz the left hand would cup the right hand combing back the ever so precious hair. Pay attention the next time you are taking a walk or even driving down the street, the stories on the road and sidewalks are just as interesting as the people walking around them!!
